Tour of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Labs
On June 17, Biotechnet's board visited the labs of the Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine platform at the University of Bern.
We would like to thank the following researchers for sharing their work with us:
Eliane Müller and Roger Aeschbacher: Investigating the effect of low frequency electromagnetic fields on stem cells.
Benjamin Gantenbein: Intervertebral disc repair using biomaterials as scaffolds.
Amiq Gazdhar and Deepika Anand: Anti-tumor treatment for lung cancer models.
Marianna Kruithof-de Julio: Core facilities including the Translational Organoid Resource (TOR).
Participation in Swiss-USA Joint Committee on Science and Technology
On May 24, 2024, Biotechnet participated in the first meeting of the Swiss-USA Joint Committee on Science and Technology. We thank the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation for inviting us to participate and share information about Swiss biotechnology expertise in biocatalysis, bioenergy, biomanufacturing, and bioprocessing.
Biotechnet members organized two events at Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area in May. It was an exciting opportunity to get an inside look at the modern, innovative campus and discover the latest science.
TEDD visit to UPM Biomedicals and CSEM
On May 7, 2024 the Tissue Engineering for Drug Discovery (TEDD) platform visited UPM Biomedicals and CSEM at SIP Basel Area.
The day included presentations on animal-free 3D cell culture, organoids, and cell biology automation, followed by networking and tours.
On May 28, 2024, CSEM and FHNW jointly organized the first edition of a workshop focusing on the emerging field of single cell analysis, and how it is enabling a deeper understanding of cell behaviour and function in drug testing.
